  2. Linux update/upgrade (SLES 15/RHEL 8 is a MUST) for the use of new HANA versions (SPS7+) incl. S/4HANA 2023
  3. Check S/4HANA Compatibility Packs (details)
  4. Usage of new HANA features like:
  5. Data Tiering: NSE (Native Storage Extension) - also usable for BSoH or BW/4HANA!
  6. NLS (Near Line Storage)
  7. Partitioning (dyn. Range / Aging)
  8. Workload Management
  9. Update / conversion to SAP S/4HANA 2023 (Prerequisite min. HANA SPS7!)
  10. Performance checks with HANA HEX Engine (details)
  11. Valid cloud strategy for the coming years (RISE check)

SAP HANA NSE - a technical deepdive with Q&A

SAP NSE was introduced with HANA 2.0 SPS04 and based on a similar approach like data aging. Data aging based on a application level approach which has a side effect if you are using a lot of Z-coding. You have to use special BADI's to access the correct data. This means you have to adapt your coding if you are using it for Z-tables or using not SAP standard functions for accessing the data in your Z-coding. In this blog we will talk about the technical aspects in more detail.
